As a new type of composite pipe, plastic-coated steel pipes are widely used in water supply and drainage, fire protection, power and telecommunications, and other fields due to their corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and long service life. However, many users often neglect daily care during use, resulting in pipe performance degradation or even premature aging. Mastering scientific care methods can not only extend the service life of plastic-coated steel pipes but also ensure their long-term stable operation.

First, regular cleaning is the foundation of plastic-coated steel pipe maintenance. Because the pipe surface is coated with a plastic layer, prolonged exposure to dust, oil, or chemicals can damage the coating. It is recommended to wipe the pipe surface every 3-6 months with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a neutral detergent. Avoid using steel wool or strong acid or alkaline cleaners to prevent scratching or corrosion of the coating. For plastic-coated steel pipes installed outdoors, it is also important to remove moss and debris attached to the surface to prevent microbial growth that may affect pipe performance.

Second, inspecting the connection points is a key step in maintenance. Plastic-coated steel pipes typically use threaded, grooved, or flanged connections, which are prone to loosening or leakage due to vibration or temperature fluctuations. It's recommended to inspect joints for tightness quarterly to ensure bolts are tight and rubber seals are intact. If leakage or looseness is detected, tighten or replace fittings promptly to prevent minor issues from leading to larger problems.

Furthermore, plastic-coated steel pipes have limited heat resistance, and prolonged exposure to extreme high or low temperatures may shorten their service life. In cold regions, insulation measures should be implemented during winter, such as wrapping with insulation materials, to prevent the medium inside the pipe from freezing and causing cracks. In hot environments, avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure. If necessary, install sunshades or insulation to reduce UV damage to the plastic coating.

Finally, proper use is also crucial to extending the life of plastic-coated steel pipes. Avoid impacting the pipe surface with hard objects to prevent the coating from detaching. When transporting corrosive media, choose plastic-coated steel pipes with appropriate corrosion resistance and regularly inspect the pipes for any effects of the media on the pipe.

Through scientific daily care, plastic-coated steel pipes can maintain excellent performance and provide users with longer-term and reliable service. When promoting such products, foreign trade companies should also emphasize the importance of care to customers to help them better realize the value of the pipes.
