ASTM A36 seamless carbon steel pipe is manufactured from ASTM A36 carbon structural steel, a standard established by the American Society for Testing and Materials. It is widely used in riveted, bolted, and welded structures such as bridges and buildings, and is also extensively applied in machinery manufacturing. A36 is a low-carbon structural steel with performance comparable to Chinese Q235 material, and the two are often interchangeable in practice.

Its governing standard is ASTM A36/A36M, with a minimum yield strength of 250 MPa, tensile strength of 400-550 MPa, and elongation after fracture of at least 20%. In terms of chemical composition, carbon content is controlled below 0.25%, manganese at 0.80%-1.20%, with phosphorus and sulfur kept at low levels.

A36 seamless pipe offers good comprehensive mechanical properties and weldability, with minimal deformation during cutting and processing. Cold-drawn A36 seamless pipe provides higher dimensional accuracy, making it suitable for structural applications with tighter tolerance requirements.
