Seamless tube is chosen in many pressure and machinery jobs because the tube body has no long weld seam. The wall is formed from a round billet, so the material runs around the full circle. This does not mean every seamless tube can be used in any pressure line. The grade, wall thickness, standard, test method, and surface condition still have to match the drawing.
In machinery work, seamless tube is often cut, bored, turned, or welded into another part, so straightness and outside diameter tolerance can be more important than people first think. For fluid work, the pipe end also matters. A beveled end, plain end, or threaded end will change how the pipe is installed. When buyers compare quotations, they should not only compare the diameter and price. They should also check whether the tube is hot rolled or cold drawn, whether inspection is included, and whether the length is fixed or random.
