Straight seam pipe is a common welded pipe for water transfer, support frames, and general construction work. The main point is to choose the process and inspection level by use, not by name only. High-frequency welded pipe is often used for regular small and medium sizes, while submerged arc welded pipe is used when the diameter is larger or the wall is heavier. For a water project, the weld, pipe roundness, and pressure test record are usually checked before delivery.
For a structure project, straightness, length, and surface treatment may be more important. Coating can be added when the pipe will touch soil, rain, or humid air. If the pipe will be welded again on site, the end preparation should also be discussed before production. A simple size list is not enough for a clean order. Material grade, wall thickness, standard, length, end type, and packing method should be written down in the same document.
